Quick start

This estimates energy used during a lifting session from bodyweight, time, and effort. Rest periods and exercise choice make the real value vary widely.

Show the key terms
MET
A standard way to estimate the energy cost of an activity.
Session effort
Average demand across work and rest, not the hardest single set.
Estimate
A planning reference rather than a measured calorie count.
Useful context

Choose the effort that best represents the whole session, including rest periods.

01

Choose based on performance and comfort

Easy cardio may feel comfortable before breakfast. High-intensity intervals, long sessions, and demanding lifting are more likely to suffer when fuel or hydration is inadequate.

02

Protect the important session

If strength or muscle retention is the priority, place key lifting where you can perform well and eat adequate daily protein. Move the fasting window before forcing every session into it.

03

Watch recovery

Persistent dizziness, declining performance, poor sleep, irritability, or disrupted menstrual function are reasons to change the plan and seek appropriate care.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

Does fasted cardio burn more fat?+

Fat use during the session can differ, but long-term fat loss depends mainly on sustained energy balance. Session fuel use is not the same as greater total fat loss.

Can I lift during a fast?+

Some people can, but performance and tolerance vary. Hydration, total nutrition, training demands, and medication matter.

Do I need an account to use the calculator?+

No. The web calculators are free and run in your browser without an account.
